Комментаторы искренни. Дело в том, что Клют пишет своеобразным английским языком - нетривиальным, богатым и сложным. Для него совершенно нормальны абзацы типа (из последней рецы на роман Джорджа Зебровски):
This sort of language either signals an author out of his depth, or on his uppers, or one as determined as Edgar Allan Poe, or Joseph Conrad, or William Hope Hodgson, or H. P. Lovecraft, or even David Lindsay, to articulate something else entirely: that true horror is a novum, perhaps—that each iteration of true horror speaks of something new to our perception of the planet—and that true horror is therefore very hard to utter.
Несчастных читателей, привыкших к тому, что им не надо лазить в словари за словами "novum", "iteration" и "articulate", эти рецы бесят. Главное же - их бесит неопределенность. "I get no real sense of the book or its author; instead, this review serves only to show off Clute's ability to use a thesaurus and to string modifiers together". "Seriously, SyFy - I don't know whether to buy the book or not..." Нет, чтоб прямо сказать: хорошая книга! Или: плохая книга! "Образованность всё хочут показать".
