Меж тем в агиткнижке про Литву (издана в 2001 году Европейским комитетом литовского правительства) есть чудесные моменты, характеризующие такие вот агиткнижки. Вот описание начала независимости:
In 1915, during the First World War, the German army occupied Lithuania. Although the country was administered by the Germans, the Lithuanian Council, composed of members of the country's intellectual elite, announced the restoration of an independetn Lithuania. Bowing to military necessity, however, the Council acknowledged that the country would be forever joined to Germany. The compromise wording was changed on 16 February 1918, however...
Тут особенно трогательно смотрится слово "forever". Хотя стратегия правильная - и из песни слов не выкинешь. А вот повод для гордости, который никак нельзя было в этой агиткнижке обойти:
[The independent Lithuania] combined two principles: the restoration of statehood and the right to national self-determination. By contrast, the independence of Finland, Latvia and Estonia... was also based on the right to self-determination, but not historical statehood.
Потому что в попугаях Литва длиннее.
