Из интервью с фронтментом Дэвидом Юджином Эдвардсом:
You can sing about anything–you can sing about worshiping a rock or worshiping a demon of the mountain or something, and that’s totally fine. People think that’s really interesting. But as soon as you talk about Jesus or the God of the bible, it’s like a curtain goes up immediately, and there’s something about it that really irritates people. They’re willing to listen to anyone else, but as soon as that comes in, it brings something up in them that causes their hair to stand up. It gets their hackles up. When you’re listening to an Islamic song or you’re listening to a Buddhist song, no one is going to have a complaint. They’ll say, “This is really beautiful, it’s really mystical,” but as soon as you bring in Christianity it becomes a cartoon for some people, and they’ll say “I grew up with that, I’ve heard it before, and I don’t want to hear that.”
I think that’s one of the reasons we do so much better in Europe. There’s a church on every corner in America–whether there’s anyone in them is another story. I think it’s a natural thing for people in America to say, “We’ve heard that already. We want to hear what they’re doing in Thailand,” When I go over to Europe its more exotic to them.
