"The principal difference between Chinese linguistics and Western linguistics is that in Chinese linguistics, pronunciations are analysed after defining their DOMs [DOMs = etymological units in Chinese scripts]. It puts all the morphems, including grammatical ones, on the same level that they really should be on. In Western linguistics, pronunciations are analysed before defining their DOMs (etymological units). This does not put all the morphemes on the same level, which they really should be on. Even though a sep[a]rate Western morphology has commenced, it can hardly recover the deficit already made by Western phonology. While Western linguistics has been giving new names to newly detected grammatical units without attested proofs, Chinese linguistics just keeps explaining them as reductions or variations of DOMs, according to the facts. Certainly, the Chinese way is correct, while the Western way is wrong. Since Western linguistics has already acknowledged the circle over analysing, agglutinating and inflecting typologies, it is not far from acknowledging this fact. I do not want to duscuss it further. Western morphological linguists will understand it straight way".
